Hong Kong & Vietnam -- Feb 5, 2015

Hong Kong

Another adventure begins. We haven’t had one in a while, so we’re ready for it. This isn’t a family “lay on the beach and suck down margaritas” type trip, but one of the more active ones that the two of us enjoy.

This time, we’re going to Hong Kong and Vietnam.

How’d we pick those two? Well, we really enjoyed Singapore / Thailand / Cambodia when we were there a few years ago, and that led us to want to explore Asia a bit more. Several people told us that Hong Kong is a city to rival New York (another favorite destination) and the various travel sites have recommended Vietnam as an emerging tourist location.

We encountered this a few years ago when we visted Siem Reap in Cambodia – the ruins and city were one of the high points of the trip, in part because it isn’t overly commercialized yet. We also recognized that we didn’t allow nearly enough time. Most everything we knew about Cambodia was based on old MASH reruns.

Vietnam is about the same, except there wasn’t a TV show about it. There are a few travel shows, but mostly it, too, is an emerging market.

P.S.  For the potential house robbers....we've have 24/7 house coverage while we're gone <G>.
