This place really is beautiful, and it would have been a shame to leave without enjoying at least a few of the amenities. Since we each had computer work to do and they have great Wi-Fi access, we grabbed electronics and headed to the pool. Once that was caught up, we walked down the beach (still too cold to do more than dip your toes in the ocean) and saw a young guy who was acting somewhat strangely).
He was coming toward the edge of our resort (and they have staff that patrol the beach pretty closely) but instead of walking down the beach, he climbed a dune up into the cactus.
Was he doing a drug deal? Illicit hand holding? Our interest was piqued, to say the least. So was that of the security guard.
Eventually, we figured out he was probably just tapping the hotel Wi-Fi, which isn’t password protected.
We wandered back down the beach and remembered that you could get a manicure or pedicure for about $5.50US in the hotel spa. That didn’t sound like a bad deal, so we found our way over there only to be told that they were entirely booked for the day.
Could we use the steam room and Jacuzzi? We could, either for a fee or for free if we booked a massage (which, coincidentally, was available and of course they were running a special).
A 60 minute massage ran the equivalent of about $38.00US. Well worth the risk, especially with the other stuff thrown in. Pretty soon we were in the locker room taking off our clothes and putting on the baggy boxers and silk robes they wanted you to wear.
Not a bad massage at all, as far as hotel massages go, and the steam room made it worthwhile since those sinuses needed opening up. The Jacuzzi certainly wasn’t a “hot tub”, being lukewarm at best, but was still nice.
By the time we finished it was time to go find a light dinner and then head back to the room to pack and get ready to move to Hanoi (via the Danang airport) tomorrow.
