Hotel in Hue -- La Residence

So we’d been told that this hotel was something special.  It gets phenomenal ratings, but in Hue?  That’d be like finding out that there’s a renowned restaurant in Banner Elk, NC -- which actually there is, it’s called Artisinal and it is amazing.

So is this hotel.  You can’t help but walk in and feel like this was the set for Casa Blanca.  Of course, the fact that the sound system is playing 40’s Jazz doesn’t hurt that.

Very Art Deco, amazing furnishings and décor.  Huan took us to our room (the Donan – no numbers here, they have names) and explained that if we wanted, there was a nicer room just down the hall (the Monumente D'Egypte), which was a bit larger and had a balcony.  Did we want to see it as well?

The first room was great – not huge, but nicely done.

Then you saw the other room, which made the first one seem like slumming. 

This room makes you think (a) there’s no reason to go out and (b) 2 days here isn’t nearly enough.
