Our tickets entitled us to passes to the British Airways Gallery Lounge, which is not a bad deal at all. There is a self-service bar and another beer station, and then there’s an assortment of snacks, sandwiches, Ramen Noodles, etc. While it’s probably not enough to make a meal, there’s certainly enough to tide us over (since we missed breakfast) until we get on the plane and they start serving real food.
Oh, and did I mention that it’s all FREE??
Probably the best part of all of this, though, is that it’s quiet. The hustle of the rest of the airport is completely gone, there’s a big fountain making water noises (and fortunately a restroom here in the lounge), a number of televisions, none of which are playing Faux News as well as work and charging stations for your various electronics.
A secure cell phone charging station – whoda thunk!
EB, wanting to make sure that the edge isn’t dulled for the food promised on the plane, opted for red wine and cappuccino (sequentially, not at the same time). My trick was to try to avoid availing myself of the various snacks while waiting.
