Our Hotel in Hong Kong -- Lanson Place

Our first accommodations are at the Lanson Place Hotel, which is very nice.  We didn’t get to take in a lot of the neighborhood when we came in last night, but it seems to be on a corner of a significant street and a side street.  They greet you at the door and direct you to the elevator, which takes you up a floor to the front desk.

When we realized that they had booked us into a room with one queen bed, we opted for an upgrade.  We are big boys and don’t necessarily want to touch each other while sleeping.  This got us a very nice suite on the 25th floor (28 in the building) with a kitchenette and an all-glass bathroom that seems to be popular in Asia.

‘Mericans tend to want a little more privacy than that.  In Singapore, there was a curtain that came down.  Here, the glass is frosted in a pattern about as dense as burlap.

The room is great overall, though.  It’s interesting that there are huge windows looking outside, and when you want to go to bed you just push a button and blackout shades come down all around.
